Custom WordPress yacht charter platform focused on SEO growth and advanced yacht search

Custom WordPress website developed for a yacht charter company in Spain to replace an outdated legacy platform built with PHP and MySQL. The project focused on improving the company’s online presence through a modern responsive design, SEO-friendly architecture, and a content strategy powered by a custom blog. Features included custom post types for yachts, ACF integration, and a custom yacht search engine that allowed visitors to filter listings by destination, price, length, and yacht type.

What began as a redesign request for a yacht charter company in Spain quickly revealed a much larger problem: the business was relying on an outdated custom-built platform that had become difficult to maintain, hard to update, and nearly impossible to scale. The existing system, developed years earlier with PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, lacked responsive design, offered poor content management capabilities, and no longer reflected the premium image the company wanted to project online.

Beyond the technical limitations, the client’s biggest concern was improving the company’s online presence. The website needed not only a completely new visual identity, but also a structure that could support better visibility, content growth, and a more modern user experience capable of attracting potential customers searching for yacht rentals online. The client also wanted the ability to publish blog content regularly as part of their long-term SEO and marketing strategy.

To solve this, I developed a fully custom WordPress solution tailored to the client’s business model and long-term goals. Using a custom theme built from scratch, I transformed the outdated platform into a modern, responsive, and easy-to-manage website while preserving the flexibility needed for future growth.

A major part of the project focused on simplifying yacht management for the client’s team. I implemented a custom post type for yachts along with Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) to organize structured information such as yacht length, weekly pricing, destinations, categories, and additional specifications. This allowed administrators to update listings efficiently without relying on technical support.

To support the client’s content strategy, I also developed a custom blog structure that made it easy for the marketing team to publish articles, destination guides, and travel-related content aimed at improving organic visibility and attracting new visitors through search engines. Over time, this content strategy also helped the company strengthen its authority in search results by consistently publishing relevant and SEO-focused content related to yacht charters and travel destinations.

One of the most important features of the project was the development of a custom yacht search engine designed specifically around the way users search for charter options. Visitors could quickly filter yachts based on length, destination, weekly price, and yacht type, significantly improving usability and helping users find relevant options faster.

Performance was also a key priority throughout development. The frontend was optimized to load only the assets required for each section of the website, reducing unnecessary requests and improving loading times while maintaining a smooth browsing experience across devices.

The final result was a scalable and modern WordPress platform that not only improved the company’s online presence and brand image, but also gave the client full control over content management, yacht listings, blog publishing, and future marketing efforts through a flexible and SEO-friendly foundation.
